​Rune Mandelid and Kari Bleivik

 

Sonic Stories is the long running collaboration between guitarist Rune Mandelid and vocalist Kari Bleivik. Their music has been described as lyrical and soulful, and is a mix of acoustic and electro-acoustic composition, loops and real-time sampling. 

Their first album 'Feels Like Night' was released on Vossajazz Records in 2006.















































Sonic Stories has since 2008 branched into a new, parallel project, the Sonic Sories Orchestra. This is a 9-piece band comprising musicians based in Oslo, Norway as well as musicians who are part of the LIMA collective in Leeds, UK. The orchestra perform a lot of new material as well as some of the duo material in new ways. The Sonic Stories Orchestra had their debut gig at the LIMA festival in October 2008, and followed up with some gigs in Norway in April 2009, the highlight being a festival gig at VossaJazz.

 

The orchestra has been working in the studio over a longer period of time, and a release date for the upcoming album will be announced 2013/14.
